Start Times and Time Zones on Hiring Goals

DATE:
AUTHOR: The Fountain team

Hiring goal cards in Hire show when a goal starts, with its time and time zone, the same way they show when it ends.

Hiring goal cards showed a start date without a time, and a goal created to start immediately was backdated to midnight that day, so the card could suggest it counted hires made before it existed.

What's new

  • Start time on every card — each goal shows a date and time for both its start and its end, with a label naming the time zone.

  • Goals that start today begin when created — a goal set to start immediately starts at the moment it is created, rather than at midnight.

  • Scheduled goals start at midnight — a goal scheduled for a future date starts at 12:00 AM on that date.

  • Times follow the opening — start and end times show in the opening's location time zone for everyone, and the Start date field in the edit form is labelled with that time zone.

  • Created shows the real creation time — a goal's Created date reflects when it was created, whatever its start date.

Why it matters

The window a goal card shows matches the hires the goal actually counts, so goal progress and your reports tell the same story.

What to expect

Goals created before this change keep the start they were saved with, so most show 12:00 AM. Hires made earlier in the day, before a goal was created, are not counted toward it; to cover a whole day or month, create or schedule the goal before that period begins.
